Synoptic Welcomes the University of Notre Dame as a Valued Customer at their historic Dublin City offices

Synoptic is thrilled to announce new work with the prestigious “Fighting Irish” – the University of Notre Dame – at their historic Dublin office.

The University’s Dublin base, located at No. 58 Merrion Square, is steeped in Irish history. This eighteenth-century Georgian townhouse, originally developed by the Fitzwilliam Estate, holds great historical significance. It was once the residence of Daniel O’Connell, the celebrated "Liberator" and former Lord Mayor of Dublin. O’Connell’s landmark achievements include securing Catholic Emancipation in 1829, and the site famously hosted a speech he delivered after his release from prison in 1844.

Today, O’Connell House serves as a vibrant centre for the University of Notre Dame in Dublin. It welcomes undergraduate and graduate students, alumni, faculty, and a diverse array of visitors, from presidents to priests, authors to artists. It is a hub for classes, seminars, colloquia, research, and a home away from home for those connected with the University.

A Project with Historical Significance

David O’Farrell, Chief Technology Officer at Synoptic, shared his thoughts:

"Working on a project within such a historic building and for a university with such deep connections to the Irish community was a distinct pleasure. Our engagement with the IT management team focused on evaluating their existing IP infrastructure and identifying areas for improvement. By transitioning to an alternative fibre network, we implemented a Dedicated Internet Access circuit with double the bandwidth while significantly reducing their annual costs. The outcome was both efficient and cost-effective."

Robert Duffin, Operations Manager at Notre Dame Dublin:

"Synoptic understood our challenges and proposed a tailored solution that has vastly improved our connectivity and reduced our annual running costs. The team was highly proactive, keeping us informed throughout the service delivery process. We are delighted with the new solution."

Building Connections, Enhancing Connectivity

This project highlights Synoptic’s commitment to delivering tailored Telecoms solutions while honouring the historical and cultural contexts of the spaces they serve. Synoptic is proud to play a role in supporting the University of Notre Dame in Dublin.
